Thomson Reuters CS Professional Suite announced on Monday that it is the first to certify an application for electronic filing with the Indiana Department of Revenue, effective immediately. 90,000 Indiana S corporations will now be able to electronically file their 2014 annual business tax filings (IT-20S).

Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) announced the launch of a new degree program on Wednesday, in a partnership with the Ron Blue Institute. The Master of Business Administration in Personal Financial Planning (MBA-PFP) allows Certified Financial Planners to earn an MBA by completing just seven or eight additional courses.

Established in 2011, the program was launched by NASBA’s Education Committee and aims to advance research on educational issues impacting CPAs, the public accounting profession, and Boards of Accountancy’s charge to protect the public.

Students from Purdue University North Central (PNC) tax and accounting classes are offering free assistance to the public over the next two months in preparing federal and state income tax returns. Brigham Young University’s five-student team won top honors at the Deloitte FanTAXtic national tax case study competition earlier this month, receiving $2,000 in scholarships per student and a $10,000 institutional award. The Deloitte FanTAXtic finals included nine teams from colleges and universities across the U.S., top spot by working on a complex, issues-driven business tax case.

In an effort to aid Ohians struggling to make ends meet, regional CPA and consulting firm Rea & Associate's annual “Help Can Hunger” campaign raises food and monetary donations throughout their 11 offices across the state. This year, which marked the 11th year of the food drive, more than 24,900 pounds of food was collected to benefit people in need.
