Zsa Zsa Gabor Blames Madoff for $118,321 Tax Bill

Los Angeles

By WebCPA Staff

The IRS has filed a tax lien against actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, claiming she owes $118,321 in unpaid taxes for 2001 and 2002, but her lawyer claims that it’s Bernard Madoff’s fault.

Gabor’s lawyer, Chris Fields, told the Associated Press that the 92-year-old lost approximately $7 million after third-party money managers invested the Hungarian actress’s funds with the convicted Ponzi schemer. The IRS filed the lien on Oct. 5 with the Los Angeles Recorder of Deeds against one of the actress’s mansions.

Fields told the AP that Gabor and her husband, Frederic von Anhalt, who claims to be a prince, are working out a payment plan with the IRS.

The actress was accused in 1989 of slapping a Beverly Hills police officer after he stopped her for a traffic violation. She was sentenced to three days in jail.
