Oh No! Mr. Bill’s Tax Office Raided by Feds

Kissimmee, Fla.
(May 7, 2009)

By WebCPA Staff

Internal Revenue Service agents raided a local tax practice in Central Florida known as Taxes by Mr. Bill and accused the firm of stealing its clients’ tax refunds.

The raid, photographed by a local TV news crew, showed federal agents carrying boxes of documents from the offices. Local police received complaints from Mr. Bill’s customers saying they had been promised refunds in one amount and instead received a lesser amount.

Investigators believe the business may have been falsifying the tax return information filed with the IRS, according to WFTV Eyewitness News. Customers were forced to wait for weeks for their refunds beyond the time they were promised, and the business stopped returning their phone calls.

Proprietor William Galvin could not be reached for comment. The voice mail greeting at the office’s phone number said it was full and could not accept incoming messages. Galvin’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment by WebCPA.
