Governor Proclaims Virginia CPA Week

Virginia Governor Tim Kaine has declared Sept. 13 to 19 to be Virginia Certified Public Accountants Week.

Kaine signed a proclamation recognizing Virginia CPA Week, which the Virginia Society of CPAs introduced as part of its centennial anniversary in 2009.

During Virginia CPA Week, the VSCPA is hosting its first-ever CPA Day of Service on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009. CPA firms and individual CPAs across Virginia will unite to participate in volunteer activities, and to celebrate the VSCPA’s milestone centenary, as well as the CPA profession’s legacy of volunteerism and community outreach.

In his proclamation, Kaine said, “CPAs in Virginia provide valuable accounting and auditing services, management advisory services, individual and corporate tax and financial planning advice, and countless other services.”

To celebrate its centennial, the VSCPA has planned a year’s worth of activities, including an annual business meeting that will be held this year on a spring cruise to Bermuda, along with year-long public service initiatives, commemorative publications and anniversary events.
