Fujitsu and Trintech Partner to Extend XBRL Capabilities

Trintech Group has embedded the Fujitsu Interstage XWand XBRL processing engine into the Trintech Unity Xtensible Financial Reporting software module.

Fujitsu Interstage XWand software helps companies create, validate, report, collect and analyze financial data in the Extensible Business Reporting Language. Trintech clients have the added ability to create, manage and validate XBRL-compliant financial statements, including EDGAR Filer Manual validation.

Trintech’s Unity XFR solution is an external financial reporting software module with workflow, document management and XBRL tagging features to help businesses comply with current and planned regulatory mandates dictating the use of XBRL in financial statements.

“As part of our Unity XFR software solution, the advanced Fujitsu XBRL processing, validation and XBRL document-generation capabilities greatly complement and enhance Unity XFR's financial reporting functionality, making it easier and more cost-effective for finance professionals to embrace XBRL as just another part of their daily financial reporting activities,” said David Taylor, vice president of strategy at Trintech.

The announcement  was made at an XBRL US conference in New York. Officials at the conference also discussed plans to expand the use of XBRL in securities trading and to integrate XBRL with International Standards Organization standards to bring more transparency to global securities trading and reduce the error rate. They also discussed how XBRL tags were being used in U.S. GAAP, with the SEC identifying errors in the tags by reviewing exceptions in the filings. So far, 468 companies have filed in XBRL with the SEC.
