Feds Sue Mike Tyson’s Ex, Robin Givens, over Tax Bill

Federal authorities have sued actress Robin Givens, ex-wife of heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson, for nearly $300,000 in unpaid taxes, interest and penalties stretching back 13 years.

Authorities asked a court in Tampa, Fla., to enter a formal judgment against the former star of TV’s “Head of the Class” for 39 tax assessments between 1996 and 2007, according to Forbes.com.

The government accuses Givens, 44, of failing to pay $222,000 in taxes and $70,000 in interest and penalties. She has had state and federal tax liens filed against her over the years in Florida, New York and California, but appears to have settled some of them. In 2004, she was sued by an 89-year-old pedestrian whom she struck with her SUV in a crosswalk.

Givens married the then-heavyweight champion in February 1998 but divorced him about a year later. Seven months after her wedding to the ear-chewing boxer, she described the marriage to Barbara Walters in a TV interview as “torture, pure hell, worse than anything I could possibly imagine,” while her husband sat beside her (pictured). She has recently been a spokesperson for the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
