CCH Incorporates New FASB Codification

Riverwoods, Ill.
(July 2, 2009)

By WebCPA Staff

CCH said it is supporting the new FASB Accounting Standards Codification in its CCH Accounting Research Manager service.

The newly organized body of standards has already been integrated with the existing libraries in CCH’s online research service. CCH is also offering training on how to find answers to accounting questions using ARM and the new codification.

The Financial Accounting Standards Board officially debuted the codification on Wednesday after testing it with users for about a year and a half (see FASB Debuts Accounting Standards Codification). The codification will serve as the single source of authoritative nongovernmental U.S. GAAP.

As of July 1, 2009, the full codification has been added to any ARM subscription that includes FASB material. Subscribers are able to search the codification and browse through it using its topical structure. In addition, they have access to cross-reference tables to pre-codified U.S. GAAP, an archive of FASB data as it existed on June 30, 2009, plus interpretive guidance and summaries keyed to the new codification. Users also have links to additional “non-authoritative” information that FASB decided to exclude from the codification, such as SEC staff speeches.

CCH is also offering training on the structure of the codification, how to search the codification, and how to stay current with new developments. For more information, visit http://accountingresearchmanager.com.
